The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

I finally got through the audio unabridged version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Sony Walkman with the intention of downloading books on audio at audible.com, only to find out that despite audible.com being compatible with over 500 different interfaces, my new Sony Walkman was not one. WTF?? That info would have been nice to know beforehand and should have been much more visible on audible.com's webpage. I actually LOOKED to see if it would be compatible before I bought it, and I found NOTHING on their website that detailed what they were compatible with. Finally, I gave up, thinking,  "Surely, it will be compatible with a Walkman."

Nope.

Color me pissed.

However, I got on with Montanalibrary2go.org and not only found it to check out, but found it was compatible with my device with no problemos. I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago and finished it last night.

The premise is the same as with any library book. With this check out system, you actually borrow the book for 2 weeks and then after that time, it disappears from your hard drive and your device. The deadline is tomorrow, so I am waiting to see if it's up and gone by tomorrow at midnight, which the librarian assured me it would be.

Now, I did check out The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest and The Girl Who Played With Fire from the county library on CD and I ripped those to my hard drive and device to listen to next. However, it took much much longer to do it that way than to download on-line. I also downloaded The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, by Stephen King from CD and finished that with a couple of days. Interested read/listen, which did tide me over until I could get TGWTDT.

I am really enjoying listening to audio books and end up getting a lot done around here when I can do that and other stuff too.

If audio books are something you might be interested in, check with your local library to see if it's available to you. It's actually pretty easy and much more compatible on more devices then audible.com.

  1. I loved the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo......the second one was good, too, although not as good as the first one, and the third one was a bit of a disappointment....in my opinion.
If you liked that book.......try Camilla Lackberg.........The Ice Princess is the first one.......awesome.
Then there three more that are translated.......get them in order though.

  2. I was afraid of that.

That's how Jean Auel's Earth Children's series kind of shook out. LOVED Clan of The Cave Bear, Valley of the Horse and The Mammoth Hunters. Plains of Passage was okay, but then I skipped over so much of the description of flora and fauna that I would have enjoyed an abridged version just as much. After waiting, what? Eleven years for Shelters of Stone, that was snorer. I have Land of The Painted Caves on my night stand and just can't even pick it up.

I'll check out Camilla Lackberg soon. Thanks for the recommendation.

Right now, I am listening to Heaven Is Real, for something light before continuing with TGWKTHN. Eh....the writing isn't really that great, but it will go fast for the next day or two.
